The group of Ladies included, myself Laura, Amelia, Aimee, Katherine, Monique, Corinne, Brooke and Jessica. We started to create and brainstorm this idea at our day service Distinctive Options in Sunbury with our support workers Milly, Erin and Jamie-lee. We love advocating for women and especially people with disability. Some of us are local from Sunbury and others are from surrounding areas. We all love creating art in all different forms and I especially love crocheting. My crocheting journey started last year during lockdown and I started by watching youtube videos to learn. I started making mask savers to help peoples ears from the masks and from there I have made all sorts of different things including srunchies, tea towel holders, beanies, scarfs and lots of other things.
If we won we would put our money towards new art supplies for our day service.
As a group the ladies sat down and brainstormed what the word women meant to them. The words were off the top of their heads and represented just how important women are.
The words resonated with the women and with the women that surround them. The ladies learnt to work together as a team and that the words they saying were very powerful. They also spoke as a group of how far women have come in history and even listened to "I am Woman" by Helen Reddy as they brainstormed.
