The Artist

Jane participated in the Valued Lives art exhibition which occurred as part of the Colourful Culture Runway event in November 2020, with 2 exhibited pieces of art.  It was the first time Jane has exhibited her art and she was thrilled with the wonderful reaction by those who saw and bought her artwork.  She was recently selected in the Ability Centre 70th Anniversary Art exhibition and the Belmont City Art awards.   This July Jane will be holding her forst Solo exhibition at the Memorial Hall in Hamilton Hill.

Artist Statement

Jane is a self-taught artist who has painted all her life.  She started experimented with abstract painting then settled into a more realistic style.   Bold, colourful animals have dominated Jane’s recent work and she hopes her series of Australian and endangered animals might one day assist in drawing attention to their plight as a result of man-made damage to their wild habitat. It has only been the last couple of years that Jane has gained the confidence to start to sell her paintings with the aim of funding her art therapy which greatly assists her to manage some of the challenges she faces with Autism and anxiety.  Jane has no doubt that her autism lets her see the World in a way that enables her to put it onto canvas and whilst Autism has some challenges, it is also helps fan her creativity.
