The Artist

I am an emerging artist transitioning my creative practice from illustration and graphic design

to fine arts. My art practice is driven by a thematic exploration of the self-acceptance of autism and

mental illness and advocacy for the intersectional rights and identities of autistic people.

My work also draws on a strong current of social justice and reimagining a better Australia and more equal planet. I operate in disparate mediums and use differences in form to reflect and reimagine under-exposed aspects of neurodiverse identities.

Born in regional NSW in 1991, I was diagnosed late in life with Autism Spectrum Disorder and range of mental health conditions. I graduated with a Bachelor of Communications Design from Billy Blue College of Design in 2018, where I received the highest award for sustained creative excellence.

Artist Statement

My work is introspective, focusing on themes of personal identity, self-awareness and personal exploration. As an Autistic person, I can often feel disconnected from my own body however, through my art, I am able to process feelings of dissociation and disconnection. This piece examines the reality of the pursuit of ‘self-love’ and the struggles and disillusion that often comes with another bar left unmet.
